Groveton Man Succumbs To Crash Injuries

HOUSTON COUNTY - A Groveton man died Friday, Feb. 24,  from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle commercial crash a day earlier, according to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials.
Feb. 23, at approximately 9:15 a.m., DPS troopers responded to the scene of the crash on FM 357 about four miles south of Kennard.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates a 2011 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling south on FM 357 when the truck drove off the roadway to the right. 
The operator of the truck overcorrected to the left and reportedly slid back across FM 357 and struck a tree; ejecting the driver and a passenger. Both the driver and passenger were transported to ETMC in Tyler for treatment. 
The passenger, 24-year-old Keaton Delk of Groveton, was pronounced deceased on Feb. 24 at 10:40 a.m. The driver of the truck was identified as 30-year-old Joshua Sylestine of Livingston.
This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
